Yes i have realized i am an Achievement whore. I realized this about 2 months ago when a friend told me i had alot of acheivement points. after this i was addicted. I would buy games in order to get those points. They actually mean nothing, but its a way for me to tell you "i am better than you"

Prey

Prey has the most retarded storyline out of all the videogames i have EVER PLAYED!!!
You are a cherokee male that hates his own culture. Well aliens attack and kidnap your girlfriend and you. And you are trying to stop them from harvesting humans. Well you try to save your girlfriend but end up HAVING to kill her bc they turned her into an alien. Then you have to save your grandfather (even though he is dead). You have to keep the aliens out of the spirit world where your grandfather's soul is now.

How effed up is that.

The gameplay is fun bc of the alien weapons. But the game tries to be a little edgy, but it really comes across as humorous.

Assassins Creed

This is one of the new franchises that came out last year. It is almost like a platformer and a rpg. You steadily get new upgrades and weapons to use, but you play as the same player ango to many different cities.

I have read many reviews for this game and most of them are right. the game is repetitive. The problem with this is it is the developers first crack at a new franchise. I always cut a little more slack to a developer who is willing to risk a little instead if cashing in on a previous cash cow.

The game is very smooth considering the main playr is always runnoing and jumping and runiing alway from authority, and killing people. Saying that, that is the jist of the game: run, kill or hide. It is a load of fun. I wont ruin the storyline, but the ending confused me really bad. But i can t wait for the next 2!!!! (yes it is a trilogy)

Excite Truck

This game, for the Nintendo Wii, is an exceptional racing game. There is no story. I like this a lot because some of the recent racing videogames have an awkward storyline and it can be hard to follow. This game has a small learning curve bc of the Wiiremote control. You control the vehicle like you would a bike.

The game is visually impressive for the Wii, especially since it is one of the first games to come out. It has some nice crashes, and huge jumps. I have a ferw things I would have changed in the game. The star system has to go. Based on how you raced, getting close to trees, wrecking other cars, ect. you get stars. At the end of the race, whoever has the most stars wins. So you can win the race in first place, but not have the most stars and falkl back. I dont like it that much. Also there is no online play!!! COME ON NINTENDO

Chromehounds

Chromehounds is a game for the Xbox 360. This is a game where the player is in a machine called a Chromehound. It is a huge machine that are about as big as trees and they are war machines. They can be customized in almost any way. As the payer progresses through the single player campaign, he she unlocks more and more upgrades to the ship. This is a great idea for the game but it came over very sloppy.

This game is just too slow for my liking. I like game that get me into the action and is faced paced while i am playing. This gamne is the opposite. There are faster machines, but they are more weak. It can take up to 5 minutes just to get to the battle field from where the game starts you.

The online multiplayer is where this game shines. All the different kinds of mechs and different playing stayles come tyogether to form a nice little "army against army" feeling.

I enjoy most games, even if others give it a bad review, but it was just too slow for me to enjoy.

Call of Duty 2

This is for the Xbox 360. This is one of the first games that started me off as becoming an Achievement Whore. (If you dont know what that is, look it up in Google)
This game is fun because it was one of the first game i got for the Xbox 360. It is fast paced and the AI is really great in the start of the new generation.

The single player campaign is what i really love. I first played it through on the normal campaign abd loved it. Then i rreplayed it on the hardest campaign possible. Granted, this took quite a while, but i did it. This was one of the first games i got all the achievements for. I was filled with excitement.

This game really made me love forst personj shooters on the Xbox 360. This recieved a perfect 10 when it came out and still does. The reason why it didnt make it onto my top ten before is because its younger brother CoD4 pushed him out.

Fight Night Round 3

This is an older game for the Xbox 360 that i have only recently beat. A friend let me borrow it. He told me i would love it. So i tried it out and did.

This game is one of the best games out right now that have successfully made human characters look REAL!. yes. the game looks amazing. The goal of the game is to work your way up and become a famous boxer and then retire.

The controls for the game have a bunch of different configurations. The game's default is using the right stick to control the punches. This works great. I also like to use the buttons configurations, especially if you are facing someone who hasnt played the franchise before.

I wanted to play this game because of the achievements get unlocked as you normally progress through the single player campaign. This is an awesome game even though it is a little older.

Guitar Hero II

I have decided to create a review of GH2. This is the game that opened my eyes to the guitar wielding fun. This game, though developed by differnt people than GH3, is an amazing game. The game is essntially the some concept as GH3 but GH3 is much more polished.

GH2 was created for the PS2 and so when ported to the 360, it looks crappy. The gameplay is a little more still, which the notes do not give as much and it is too hard to do hammerons and pulloffs. If you have played it, you know.

The menus in game are a step down from the GH3 i love. The songs do not have the singers underneath it, so a person wanted to know who sings the song has to either, a)play it or b) wait like 4 seconds and try to guess who it sounds like. The online multiplayer, is well, none. There are leaderboards to check your score with everyone else's. (which is a little disheartening)

This game, through its flaws, made me the rocker i am today, so it will just get a nice little star.

Ok, my roommates and I have put in a lot of hours playing videogames. The one videogame that we have co-oped the most is Madden 08. So the game thats we are collectivly waiting on is Madden 09. Here is a trailer...

F.E.A.R.

FEAR is a game that is very suspenseful. It has got to be one of the scariest games I have ever played.

You play an Elite soldier that has the task of figuring out what happened at a certain facility. This is more of an experimentation lab. You continuously have flashbacks. The story unfolds as the sension keeps getting higher.

The worst part about the game is a small little girl that keeps trying to attack you. She will occasionally jump out at you and scare the crap out of whoever is watching the television.

This is also a game that a friewnd can watch you play and still get scared just watching.

Super Mario Kart

Super Mario Kart is amazing. The best part about it is the Grand Prix, and Yoshi is definitely my favorite driver. I think Princess Peach is the worst, and I hate the bananas. I think they are the most pointless form of use for battle. But they keep it interesting. Also, I'm addicted to Mario Kart wii. It is so much more fun to actually feel like you're driving the cars.

NBA Live 08

This is a review by an experienced videogame player of basketball. Trust his judgment.

Live 08 is one of the smoothest playing basketball games on the market. Limited time with NBA 2K8 may be the reason that I was never sold on it, but by far Live is better. The game play is near the same speed of what the real game plays like. Shooters get hot and cold and of course there are unstoppable franchises just as any sport game has. The Celtics, just as in real life are unstoppable and could be titled as completely unfair. Room for improvement lies in the effort players put out to save loose balls from going out of bounds. No effort whatsoever is given to saving the ball, they simply walk out of bounds, bend over at the waist and pick it up. Another glitch is the fact that an overwhelming amount of shots hit the back of the backboard causing an out of bounds call. It's somewhat frustrating, but nothing too serious. Overall I give it a 9/10 with some room for improvement.

Super Mario Galaxy

This is a review for Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii. This is the first MUST HAVE for the Wii.

This is a platformer and a great one at that. Everyone knows what a Mario game plays like. It is very similar to some past Mario games. I would call this game a combination of Mario Bros. 3 and Mario 64. It is a 3D game but it has many different powerups that help make a variety of gameplay.

The game is made up of Small little planets that Mario gravitiates towards. This makes it much harder for Mario to fall off the map. The problem i have with the game is, a lack of a few features. The game overall seemed a little too easy, and the flying cap was only used twice in the game. This was a very fun part of the game in which should have been used more.

This game is soo much fun and can be played with a friend(they control a little pointer on the screen)

Ok i just found a new video of the new Guitar Hero 4. I am excited, bc rock band and GH3 was in my top ten...this is showing off the new drums...and a new vocals thingy...

Mass Effect

Mass Effect is a RPG. (Role Playing Game) You take control of Shepard( you can choose his first name.) You start off trying to get into the ranks of the Specters. This is an elite soldier. After getting this, you are given the opportunity to go after a fellow Specter that has went rogue.

You will go through many missions to understand what the other Specter's goal. The fun is choosing how you would like to upgrade you player. The different attributes make playing the game over a different kind of fun.

The player also has different opportunities to do side quests at his her leisure. Compared to other games, this is a long game. If the palyer only does the main quests, then the game can go a lot quicker.

Because this game is completly new and not a sequel, this is why it jumped so far above the other great games.

Halo 3

This is a review for Halo 3 for the Xbox 360.

This game has a great single player campaign. The story starts off where number 2 had left off. The idea is to turn on the Halo to stop the invasion of the aliens. The story is very complex and spans the two previous games.

The gameplay has been tweaked again. The weapons are easier to used and the dual weapon wielding is back. It is a first person shooter. this game shines in the multiplayer online or locally.

The online has many different maps to play on and recently the old maps for halo two have been added. There are many glitches in the game but it adds to the fun. The more time you spend online the better you get. the maps make it fun for all different weapons ans styles of play. This game expands on the greatest franchise to go online.

Rock Band

Rock Band take everything from Guitar Hero and makes it a little better. The difference is in the gameplay. There are no battle where you can use powerups. But there is a thing called tug of war, where the player who gets the higher score wins.

The main reason why this game actually jumped Guitar hero is because of the drums. This isnt just a guitar like in guitar hero. The songs that are in the game are not as fun as guitar hero. The problem i have is this game gets very hard for only 2 songs. Yes i cannot beat 2 songs in this game. I am so mad. I have been stuck on these for about 3 months.
This game does have a nice array of Downloadable Content (DLC) The songs are4 fun, but i wish they were a little cheaper, or maybe get them in iTunes as well as rock band.

Guitar Hero III

OK back to reviewing video games....

Guitar Hero III is a rhythm based game. Notes scroll down the page and when they move across a baseline, you strum and push the correct color note. It is like dance dance revolution but playing a fake guitar.

Once you get the hang of the game it is quite simple, play songs, get money for playing gigs, and buy stuff with the money you gained. That the roll of the game is to play the songs on the hardest level.

I currently cannot get past the "hard" boss battle.

The battle mode is a new addition to the two player. Normally there is a a face off, pro face off and co-op play. Co-op is playing with another player and having a combination score. Face off is two players going against each other with alternating pieces of the song. Pro face off is both players having the same notes and whoever has the highest score wins.

Battle is the new mode. There are many powerups to make your opponent mess up. Once there meter(how well they are playing) goes down so far, they lose. Simple concept, awesome fun.

Oblivion

This is an RPG game. At the start of the game, the player gets to choose his species and attributes for your character.

This is a very long game. The game starts out with your character following the king through a prison. He ends up dying and sending you on a quest to make sure the kingdom will be safe.

When i say this is a long game, I put over 100 hours into this game. The game lets the player choose the quests that he/she wants to go on. The main quest have to go in order, but the side quests can be done in any order. There are guilds in which the player can become the leader.

Having the freedom to do missions as you please is exciting. The player slowly builds up his attributes throughout the game and unlocks powers and magic.

Though this is an older game, it still makes the top 10

Need For Speed: ProStreet

To start off, this is a game that is unlike all the other Need For Speeds. This a more realistic racing game. It is one of the better ones.

The game starts out by giving you a car and you have to win it. You have to move up the ranks and knock off the street kings. (By knock off I mean beat in a race.) There are four different types of Races. Circuit, Speed, Drag, and Drift
Circuit- lapped races
Speed- High speed point A to point B
Drag- Drag race(Manual shifting)
Drift- Drift cars

A racing game is self explanatory. There are many races. The game is amazing.

Madden 08

This review is for the 360. The game is setup like the previous year of madden. Passing is the same and running is the same. The difference is in juking. The juking is now done with the majoity of the right stick. you flick the stick up and it gives the runner a Truck stick, or run the defender over. Side to side flick makes the runner do a sidestep. Flick the stick back and the runner will stop as if to miss a diving tackle.

The same goes for the defense. A tackler can use the right stick to hit the player with the ball. to flick it up, the tackler will hit the ball carrerier high and if it is flicked down, the tackler will dive at his feet. there is still spin move and dive, but they are done with the b and x.

The controls on the game are very responsive. I prefer this game over NCAA 08 because it is much faster, the players are more detailed and actually have names. This game also has the usual minigames you can play to make players better throughout the year but i usually skip this because i didnt buy the game for those. They are fun to play with friends and rub it in their faces when you bench more than they did ( when in reality they can bench more than you!!!)

The superstar career can be extremely hard or really easy. If you play as a skill position(running back, quarterback, reciever) it is easier to get into the hall of fame,(that is the ultimate goal) As a lineman or linebacker, it is really hard. we'll leave it at that.

The Debate: Are videogames art?

I have been reading some articles online that suggest that games is not a form of art. These articles are followed by angry posts by readers about how they are unjustified accusations. These gamers, I assume, get angry and call the writers morons and idiots. (I will have to go back and link these pages so you can read them.)

The thing that I find interesting is the difference in art and video games is the emotion. I wouldnt consider all videogames art because there are so many different genres of games. When a person listens to music they enjoy, one can get a sense of feeling out of the music or it can envoke a certain emotion on the person because it reminds them of a point in their lives. They even call people who make music "artists."

Painting and sculpting are forms of art. They are probably the oldest forms of art. This is a guess of course. I am no scholar in this field. The art forms and can take many hours, days, months, or even years to finish. The end product is open to interpretation.

This is where I believe new videogames shine. They can take up to years to complete. Even though they are to make money, isn't that the ultimate goal in commercial painting and sculpting? The art work in a single level in a game alone can invoke fear, hate, love, and any other emotion one can think of. This can happen because the player is actively interacting with the person on screen. The game can give the player a choice to be cruel or nice. To kill or have mercy. This connection between the player and game come together.

Why do people feel emotion when they read poetry when they did not write it? Why do people love paintings so much, though they did not make it? It might be because they can connect to it. Maybe because people want more or from the art forms can help people disconnect from their reality. Videogames can evoke emotion, make money, take long periods of time to compile and be visually stunning. I believe videogames should be a form of art. If you don't think so, prove it.

Bioshock

This is a review for one of the craziest and awe-inspiring game I have ever played. (The storyline is twisted)


Bioshock starts off the game with a plane crash in the middle of the ocean. There seemed to be a small island close by.

well this is what is gonna happen. i love this game. i have been trying to write a decent review for this, but i seem not to be able to.

This is such a twisted story, Im not going to try and explain it.

Call of Duty 4

This is an amazing game. There are many different aspects of the game to be played. The single player campaign and multiplayer will be dissected.

The single player campaign is visually stunning. The start of the game is a training mission, just as all the other CoDs have in the past. This one differs from the rest because it is not constrained by the past. After the small training, the game recommends the level of difficulty based on how well the player went through the training. The first level starts out in a ship. it is one of the best looking games to date. This first level starts the action strong. Your allies take most of the enemies out. I will not give away what happens, but things get a little wet at the end of the level.

Infinity created an amazing game out of creativity. The variety throughout the game is amazing. The different weapons that are available make the replay value very high. My favorite is the javelin. it is a rocket launcher, but no ordinary rocket launcher. This weapon takes into effect that tanks have the most armor on the sides of the tank and least armor on top. This rocket goes high into the sky and plummets on top of the tank.

The levels format also have a nice variety. There are sniper levels, plane levels(my favorite because its like killing ants), and the normal run and gun levels. In certain situations, you get to use some interesting gadgets such as night vision and airborne strikes by planes and helicopters.

Some replay value is also in finding the enemies intel. This unlocks cheats in the single player campaign. They really don't do very much, like turning enemies into tires after killing them, giving unlimited ammo, or having cluster bombs.

This game truly shines online. The game maps are a wide variety and there are a bunch of people on so it is easy to find a match.( At least for me) Sometimes I get mad at the people because they get stupid, but all online games can get that way. The ranking system online is great. It is easier to rank up that the system that Halo uses. (If anyone understands how that works, I read up on the TrueSkill system and is sucks) Once you get up to the highest rank you have the choice to lose all your progress and start over with a symbol beside your name. Its kinda like "Yeah look at me, I'm better than you!"

This is an Amazing game!!! 10/10

Medal of Honor: Airborne

This is a review fort Medal of Honor Airborne for the PS3. This was a fun game. I had played the previous MoH on the PS2. this was a better version. There is no lives or continues. This game reverts back to the checkpoints and unlimited lives used on popular games such as Call of Duty 4. (the review will be up in a few days)

The gameplay is solid. It uses the same mechanics as the previous games in the series. There are some interesting points in the gameplay. Instead of there being hordes of soldiers coming at the player, the enemies have different classes. Each class has its advantages and weaknesses. it makes the gameplay varied.

The online is nothing to brag about. It is there, but compared to Resistance or Halo, there needs to be more work.

My last complaint is the games single player campaign. This game is VERY SHORT!!!! This is a game that everyone should rent. Luckily, my roommate bought the game and I didn't have a dime it it. The game is fun, but because the game is short and lacking in content, I cant see buying this unless it is in a bargin bin.

Devil May Cry 4

This first post will be for the Xbox 360. I am a newcomer to the Devil May Cry series. Getting to know the controls were surprisingly easy. There is a handicap for newcomers, such as myself, to pull of difficult combos in game by pressing a single button in certain combinations. Was very rewarding to see my character perform combos right off the bat.

The game has many cutscenes. They are B-E-A-utiful. In watching them, much of the story begins to unravel. One of the best parts in he story is switching characters. This brings a whole new dimension to the game. Instead of playing Nero, you play as Dante. Dante was the star in the previous Devil May Cry games. The game is not very long. It can be beat in under 10 hours. The best part in the game is the bosses. There are three main bosses in the first part of the game, when you are playing the character Nero. The sad thing with this game is the repeating. Once you start playing with Dante, you hav to go back through everything you just played through.

The many positives still go on. The difficulty levels give the game a definitely high replay value. There are also many different small side games that can be played, if found. This is a nice distraction, plus each one gives a power-up.

The last negative in the game is the voice acting. The only bad thing is sometimes it is so corny i want to punch the screen. Maybe it is just me but....

All in all, this gamer was one of the elite games for the 360.
